After living in Sheffield for most of my life, I have now found myself living in the crème de la crème of Rotherham, Wath-upon-Dearne.
As house arrangements were made I started to have doubts, I mean, what would Wath actually have to offer a city girl like me.
I wondered whether my shoes would have a place in this mysterious quiet area, or whether I would need to change my accent so that people could understand me...has anyone else noticed that Wathians put the word ‘me' after every sentence, for example ‘I love shoes me', ‘I hate pineapple me'...ou get the drill.
Anyway, as it happens, the area isn't going to be as quiet as I originally thought! Manvers in Wath is currently going through a major development called Waterfront, a £130m business, housing and leisure development around its Lake, forecast to create up to 1,500 jobs.
Yes, just outside my house will be a business park, Leisure Park, golf course, shops, and a boating club house along with over four hundred new homes.
One of these new homes is now half mine, and some housing developers are using incentives to get people out of the city. We got a free year's travel pass for all South Yorkshire tram, train and bus use. That's an eight hundred quid freebie!
I'll keep you posted how it's all going...
I've wrote my first blog me.
