Rib Shack taking Sheffield by storm
March 2010 by Allie DransfieldA flagship fast food restaurant which is bringing the authentic BBQ taste of North Carolina to Sheffield has officially opened.
The Original BBQ Grill and Rib Shack Company have opened their first outlet at the Oasis Food Court on the lower mall at Meadowhall Shopping Centre.
The restaurant was launched on Saturday evening with a VIP event which was attended by more than 100 guests and officially opened to the public on Sunday.
Diners at The Original BBQ Grill and Rib Shack Company can enjoy full and half racks of BBQ Pork ribs, pork hammers, lamb ribs, pulled pork sandwich, Louisiana pulled beef sandwich, Cajun chicken shack wrap, BBQ chicken wings and beef steak sandwich. Two innovative salads are also available including an iceberg wedge accompanied with ranch dressing and bacon as well as a selection of side orders.
Steve Palmer-Smith, Managing Director, said: “We have received excellent feedback from our launch party and we had a very busy day on Sunday with customers eager to experience the Rib Shack.
“The origins of The Original BBQ Grill and Rib Shack Company lie in Mobile, Alabama where I was introduced to the Deep South culinary traditions of BBQ excellence. This method of cooking is taken very seriously indeed here and it is incredibly inspiring.
“The perception of BBQ in the UK is very different story, it’s all about charcoaled sausages which are burnt on the outside and not cooked on the inside – we are here to change all that!
“All our meat has been slow cooked for three and a half hours and is tender and exceptionally tasty. We are very passionate about bringing the culinary tradition and true taste of BBQ to the UK and are proud to have chosen Meadowhall, the region’s premier shopping destination, as the location to launch our flagship outlet with our ‘ribs on the go’ concept.
“With the launch of The Original BBQ Grill and Rib Shack Company we are introducing a unique, authentic concept to the quick service restaurant market. There is a great buzz around the Rib Shack, our staff are incredibly motivated and we are very confident that it will become a firm favourite of diners at Meadowhall.
