Pippa glides back home for Disney production

A Sheffield-based skater who is on tour with one of the country’s biggest ice shows has glided back into the city.

Pippa Teague, who trains and coaches at iceSheffield, has been touring the country as part of Disney on Ice's production of Finding Nemo, which arrived at the Sheffield Arena on 18 November.

The 24 year-old, originally from Ballymena near Belfast in Northern Ireland, beat off stiff competition in the rigorous audition process earlier this year to land a role as part of the ensemble in the prestigious show.

Since September she has performed in over 50 shows throughout the country, and will soon travel to Europe to continue wowing the crowds at venues in France, Spain, Portugal, Netherlands, Germany and Ireland.

Pippa, who lives in Wincobank, said: "Ever since going to see a Disney on Ice show in Belfast when I was younger I have wanted to be a part of one, so to now be performing in Finding Nemo is a dream come true.

"Being in the show is tiring, but I have so much fun performing and it has given me the chance to travel across the whole country and to Europe, where we are heading next."

Peter Morrissey, ice development manager at iceSheffield, said: "Everyone at iceSheffield is extremely proud of Pippa's achievements in the show. We are thrilled to see her be a part of such a huge production."

Pippa, who is a level two qualified coach at the Sheffield International Venues (SIV) managed facility, represented Northern Ireland in home country international competition in 2006, and has successfully taken part in a number of regional competitions.

Pippa added: "Being back in Sheffield is brilliant as I get a chance to catch up with my friends and show all the other performers where I live. Some of the children I coach at iceSheffield are coming along to watch the show, so it'll be good to know they're in the audience cheering me on!"
