New owners for Coffee Revolution

14 November 2008

Sheffield University Students' Union has sold its Coffee Revolution café on Ecclesall Road.

Corporate lawyers from South Yorkshire's leading law firm, DLA Piper, acted for the Union in disposing of the business and assets of the Fairtrade coffee outlet.

The Union will continue to run Coffee Revolution at its building on Western Bank and Commercial Director Stephen Hubbard said: "We wanted to concentrate on our catering business at our main campus site which grew significantly last year.

"We felt that the Ecclesall Road business would benefit from an owner operator who would be able to develop it much further and we are looking forward to helping them do this."

Under the deal, new owners Helen and Emily West will continue to license the Coffee Revolution name from the Union.

Corporate solicitor Anna Grunwell from DLA Piper stressed the importance of the small to mid-market local deals said: "This is one of a portfolio of local transactions we have done this year acting for a valued client.

"It reflects the fact that, despite leading on many large, national and international buyouts and disposals we are still committed to advising local companies on their commercial needs, wherever they do business."
