HR Media Ltd is helping to raise the profile of organ donation and transplantation having secured the regional contract to publicise the 31st Westfield Health British Transplant Games.
The Games are one of the biggest annual multi-sports events in the UK and will take place at venues across Sheffield from 7th until 11th August, this year.
The aim of the event is to encourage transplant patients to regain fitness, to demonstrate the benefits of organ transplantation and to promote awareness of the need for more people to sign on to the NHS Organ Donor Register.
Currently in the UK, there are more than 8,000 people waiting for a transplant, but there are less than 3,000 transplants each year due to a shortage of donors.
Latest figures show that as many as 401 people in the Sheffield region are waiting for a transplant. In 2007, 23 organ donors saved the lives of 74 people in the city.
Martin Ross, managing director at HR Media, said: "The 31st Westfield Health British Transplant Games are set to be a fantastic showcase for organ donation and the city's sporting venues.
"We are delighted that the publicity for the Games will ultimately enhance the profile of NHS Organ Donor Register."
