Olympic fever builds as 2012 creeps nearer…
December 2011 by Stacey MorganAs the excitement builds for everyone looking forward to watching the Olympics next year, think how inspiring it is for the athletes who will be representing our country in a range of sporting disciplines on home turf.
This week, I got my first glimpse of some of the facilities Team GB athletes use when training for the biggest competition of their lives.
I visited the English Institute of Sport in Sheffield (EIS Sheffield) where European heptathlon champion Jessica Ennis trains alongside a host of other sporting champions including world squash champion Nick Matthew, table tennis star Paul Drinkhall and the GB Boxing squads.
I went along to the venue to meet one of our women’s boxing medal hopefuls –, flyweight Nicola Adams, and I felt privileged to spend time in the state-of-the-art boxing hall where all the magic happens!
The facilities at EIS Sheffield are second to none and Nicola for one really appreciates the top class set up and coaches readily available to her here in South Yorkshire.
With only 226 days and counting until the opening ceremony, I’m really getting into the Olympic buzz…COME ON Team GB!!!
